THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing a personalized approach for every client's need.
