THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their disputes without the needing court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters involving child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond her legal profession and she was active as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
